October 4, 2013 - Monitor your entire fleet from any location with a smartphone or tablet. The Connected Farm™ fleet app is a powerful management tool for viewing equipment GPS locations and current status information in order to increase fleet efficiency and productivity.
Status information includes whether the vehicle is idling, moving, working or delayed. Fleet managers also receive instant alerts when a vehicle travels into a restricted zone or if it is operating during curfew hours. Like other Trimble® products, the app works well with many equipment brands which provides a flexible solution for fleet managers worldwide.
The free Connected Farm fleet app is compatible with a variety of smartphones and tablets using an iOS or Android™ operating system. If you already have a Connected Farm account and subscribed to the vehicle management service, simply download the app and start viewing your equipment in the palm of your hand. In case you are not a customer yet, a demo function is available to explore the features provided before subscribing to the service.
Visit the fleet app webpage for more information or to download it.
October 2, 2013 - The Office Docking Station quickly recharges the batteries of the Yuma® 2 tablet when it is docked. The two independent battery charging slots enable you to recharge an extra set of batteries, charging either at the same time or independently of the Yuma 2 tablet itself.
The dock can also facilitate the tablet’s use as an office, by connecting a keyboard, mouse and wired Ethernet network.
There are three status LED’s on the front of the Office Docking Station that indicate power is connected to the tablet and the charging status of batteries in the charging wells. As a reminder, the Yuma 2 tablet has a battery status LED on the upper left of the unit that signals when the tablet is fully charged.
The connection options for the Office Docking Station are:
Three USB host ports; one on the right side and two on the back
One Ethernet port on the back of the Office Docking Station
Audio jack for headphones or external speakers
The Office Docking Station includes a large capacitive stylus that enables users to use the touch screen without having to use the stylus that is attached to the tablet. The front of the dock features two horizontal slots for convenient storage of the stylus when not in use.
September 12, 2013 - The Yuma® 2 G tablet computer uses SBAS and a GPS accuracy algorithm to provide dramatic Enhanced GPS performance. Under the correct conditions, Enhanced GPS allows data collection with 1-2 meter accuracy in real-time.
Using the GPS L1 band, the Yuma 2 G tablet computer configuration offers reliable performance in reduced signal environments. Field workers who have to move from place to place to collect critical field data won’t have to waste time waiting for the system to warm up: the Yuma 2 G tablet computer tests at an average cold start of less than 33 seconds, and a warm start of less than 3 seconds.
August 30, 2013 - Jon Bryson of Indy Family Farms explains how Trimble's Connected Farm™ solution improves their decision making process by receiving data from the field in real time. Data zapped from the field to the office without USB flash drives not only saves them time, but also increases their efficiency. The farm also uses iPad tablets so that they can easily share their information with other operators, allowing them to react quicker to unexpected problems during field operations.
August 30, 2013 - Aaron Richards of Indy Family Farms utilizes Trimble's Connected Farm™ solution for planting and applying nitrogen on corn. Connected Farm has simplified data management from the field by transferring data wirelessly between tractors and office. The farm also uses automated steering to reduce driver fatigue and increase safety which is important when multiple operators are in the same field or covering large amounts of acreage at all times of the day.
August 27, 2013 - Trimble Agriculture announced two new products (Connected Farm™ Dashboard & TMX-2050™ display) and two new acquisitions (RainWave & IQ Irrigation) at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, IL.
Take the opportunity to learn more about Farm Works at Husker Harvest or Sunbelt. Both shows will be staffed with knowledgeable software specialists who will demonstrate the latest version and answer your questions about data management.
A change for this year is our booth location. Farm Works will no longer have a separate booth at these shows; instead we’ll be located in the Trimble tent. This move will provide you a one-stop-shop for all your precision ag needs.

June 25, 2013 - Jake Ridenour of Ridenour Acres explains how he uses Trimble® technology for designing corn mazes. The video shows how Farm Works™ Mapping software is used in the office to design the maze while the rugged Yuma® 2 tablet computer is used to cut the maze. Trimble makes it easy by providing both software and hardware for corn maze design and cut.
May 31, 2013 - There are many financial challenges to farming so having the right software system is crucial for long term success. Kevin and Renee Brown farm over 2200 acres in southeastern South Dakota and can tell you that the software plays a key role. “We used Quicken® and Microsoft Money for years and neither provided the information we needed for year-end reports and tax preparation,” states Renee. Most farmers will experiment with off the shelf accounting software and try to modify it for agriculture. In most cases it becomes a frustrating experience that wastes time and money.
