Field App Ranks Top 10 in CropLife

March 31, 2016 - The Connected Farm Field app, compatible with Farm Works Software®, received quite the praise from CropLife Magazine.  Of all the apps available in agriculture for 2016, the Connected Farm™ Field app ranked in the Top 10 in terms of productivity.

Consider in 2010 there was a “meager” 300,000 mobile apps in the Apple App Store, according to Statista Inc. That number mushroomed to 1.5 million apps in 2015 — a whopping 400% increase in just five years.

And the incredible volume of mobile apps has poured over into agriculture. With the number of farming apps available in leading app stores growing exponentially, it’s become next to impossible to successfully wade through the latest options that are helping make work more productive for ag professionals.

Design a Corn Maze in 2016

March 28, 2016 - Are you planning a corn maze in 2016?  Farm Works offers the perfect combination of software and mobile solutions to create your own maze.  This solution can handle anything from simple designs to more elaborate mazes that people will be talking about for years.

Where do you start?  Utilize the Farm Works™ Maze Kit by taking your design (such as an image from a maze designer) and easily geo-reference it using simple mapping tools on your desktop computer.  Next, take your image to the field on a mobile computer and start cutting the design using GPS.  Farm Works offers a variety of mobile computers that provide different levels of GPS accuracy.  The Trimble® Juno® T41 "G" series handheld is a high performance integrated GPS solution that offers repeatable 1-2 meter accuracy in the palm of your hand - a perfect partner for cutting corn mazes.

Video: Export Shapefiles to Displays

March 14, 2016 - This tutorial demonstrate how to import a shapefile (VRA Rx Map) into Farm Works Software®, followed by writing it out to a field display. This process is important because most trusted advisors create VRA prescription maps and will provide a shapefile (*.shp) to the farmer to complete the task.  This video shows the proper steps of importing the shapefile, assigning the correct supply within Farm Works, and writing it out to the field display.
